How can forests deliver more than timber – and how can countries finance the ecosystem services they provide?

Unique land use took part in the regional event ‘Financing nature: Spotlight on Eastern Partnership countries’ on 9 June 2026, exploring innovative financing tools, policy pathways and the true value of nature across the Eastern Partnership and beyond.

The program brought together key country insights: Georgia – rethinking the value of forests beyond timber; Ukraine – financing ecosystems in times of war; Armenia – closing the nature-restoration financing gap; and Moldova – balancing self-financing with ecosystem support for sustainable forestry.

Representing Unique land use in Brussels were Christian Held, Bernd Wippel, Signe Nelgen and Jacinto C.
