Adaptation Strategies for the Black Forest
Background
In Baden-Württemberg climate change is increasingly perceived through changes in local temperatures and weather patterns and the resulting impacts on landscapes. Climate change will also greatly impact the Southern Black Forest region, with agriculture, forestry, nature and tourism as key sectors that will be most affected. The objective of this project is to develop a “landscape adaptation strategy” for the Southern Black Forest region, with emphasis on agricultural production and habitats mostly affected by climate change. Within the context of a research program of the Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection of Baden-Württemberg (LUBW), the Naturpark Südschwarzwald (Southern Black Forest Nature Park) commissioned UNIQUE to develop an adaptation strategy in close cooperation with agricultural entrepreneurs and advisory committees.
