Assessment of REDD+ Readiness Preparation Proposal
Background
The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) is assisting developing countries in reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+). Vanuatu is one of the selected REDD+ Country Participants in the FCPF Readiness Mechanism. Vanuatu received grant support to develop a Readiness Preparation Proposal (R-PP), which contains an assessment of the drivers of deforestation and forest degradation, terms of reference for defining their emissions reference level, establishing a monitoring, reporting and verification system for REDD+ and adopting their national REDD+ strategy. The World Bank is to ensure that the FCPF’s future activities comply with the relevant safeguard, procurement and financial management policies. UNIQUE supports the World Bank in assessing Vanuatu before the signing of the grant agreement for R-PP implementation.
