Carbon Finance Feasibility Study
Background
A private investor established a high value timber plantation in the Central African Republic. The Kolongo reforestation project covers an area of 1,000 ha. Teak was planted on degraded land, while remaining indigenous forest has been protected. The investor sought to generate carbon credits according to the CarbonFix Standard. UNIQUE forestry and land use was contracted to assess the feasibility of the project including the amount of carbon sequestration potential. UNIQUE also provided recommendations on good forest management according to Carbonfix guidelines in order to ensure the project meets international best practice standards.
