Background

Central project evaluations typically concern projects that the GIZ undertakes on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The evaluations are conducted about two to four months after the project ends, with project duration typically around three years. They provide a critical, analytical assessment of a project’s results and how it was implemented. Where relevant in terms of content, these final evaluations also take predecessor projects into account to enable conclusions on longer-term outcomes and sustainability. The project evaluated here was “Regional support to the Central African Forest Commission.” (PN 2021.2043.4). Unique conducted an independent assessment of the project based on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – Development Assistance Committee criteria.
