Background

The negative impacts of climate change will have a particularly strong impact on Africa’s agricultural sector. Even the most optimistic calculations assume that agricultural yields will drop 10 - 20% by 2050. This will have dramatic effects on the economic growth of the concerned countries and endanger food security in many places. In this context, the GIZ-financed program focuses on the development of coordinated and coherent policies and strategies for sustainable agro-economic growth, training for those employed in the agricultural sector and mainstreaming climate change adaptation throughout the program’s implementation. The consortium UNIQUE / Kulima analyzes best practices in six African partner countries, identifying those that allow for the fastest possible climate change adaptation.
