Elaboration of Fee Regulation for Wood Products
Background
The use of natural forest resources in Peru by private entrepreneurs or communities is subject to a utilization fee as economic compensation for the state. The fee is calculated both per utilized area and per use of harvested timber and is paid to the national forest administration SERFOR. In this context, UNIQUE was commissioned by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to revise the currently valid national fee regulation with respect to the use of timber from natural forests in Peru and to develop an updated fee payment scheme for all tree species of the different climatic regions of the country.
