Emission Reduction Program Support
Background
The Government of Fiji aims to undertake transformational changes in the forestry sector by reducing deforestation, forest degradation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks (REDD+). As part of REDD+, the Ministry of Forests in Fiji is developing an Emission Reduction Program (ER-P). The proposed ER-P area for Fiji will comprise the islands of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and Taveuni. The Ministry of Forests contracted UNIQUE to support the development of the ER-P document (ER-PD) for submission to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility´s Carbon Fund. The assignment included an in-depth cost and benefit assessment, preparation of a financing plan and estimation of the expected emission reductions in accordance with the Carbon Fund´s standards.

- Assessment of ER-P cost and benefits
- Preparation of a financing plan for the ER-P Document.
- Assessment and quantification of emission reductions benefits of the ER-P.
- Preparation ER-PD chapters on financing, and calculation of emission reductions.
