FODEMO - Concept support for an improved forest inventory and planning systems
Background
The FODEMO (Forestry Development in Montenegro) Project supports the Government of Montenegro in the transition to a market economy and reform of the entire forest sector. Many forests are degraded and require rehabilitation to bring them back to commercial viability. That is why a key element is enhancing the sustainability of forest management. A lack of information as well as a lack of control and monitoring was detected on the operations level and on the national level. UNIQUE was asked to precede the support of core activities of the new Control and Monitoring Unit (CMU) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Montenegro.
