Background

The Mekong Delta is Vietnam’s most important agricultural region feeding more than 145 million people. It faces existential threats, such as climate change, sea level rise and coastal ecosystem damage. The objective of the Integrated Coastal Management Program (ICMP/CCEP), implemented by GIZ, is to support the Vietnamese authorities in preparing for and addressing these challenges. In its first phase, ICMP/CCEP tested several technologies aimed at improving the livelihoods of the rural population facing dynamic environmental and socio-economic changes. In the second phase, ICMP/CCEP plans to scale up promising technologies by leveraging additional finance from financial institutions. UNIQUE was contracted to comprehensively assess the scaling up potential of technologies and define the requirements of financial institutions for additional finance.
