Background

The Government of Kenya and the World Bank are currently preparing the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project. The proposed development objective is to increase productivity and build resilience to climate change risks in targeted smallholder farming and pastoral communities in selected counties in Kenya. The project is expected to (i) scale up climate-smart agricultural practices, (ii) strengthen climate-smart agriculture research and seed systems and (iii) support climate, agro-weather and market information systems. Further, project management and overall coordination will be supported. UNIQUE was selected given its long track record and innovative work on climate smart agriculture, particularly related to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Measuring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) issues.
