Monitoring Biodiversity Within Coffee Agroforestry Systems Using Ecoacoustic
Background
In El Salvador, the agroforestry method of growing coffee under trees is crucial to the country's biodiversity. The shade trees provide is an essential habitat for various species. However, converting the coffee agroforestry system to other land use types, such as conventional agriculture, poses a significant threat to biodiversity. An impact investment fund promoting biodiversity commissioned Unique to evaluate the effect of trees on biodiversity in coffee plantations in El Salvador using the eco-acoustic method.
