Support of the GIZ International Forest Program
Background
The International Forest Program of the GIZ advises the German Ministry for Development and Economic Cooperation on issues related to forest policies, such as the protection and restoration of forest landscapes (FLR), and supports selected partner countries in their implementation efforts (Ethiopia, Madagascar, Cameroon and Togo). The objective of this framework contract of UNIQUE and its cooperation partner ONF International was to support the sector program, as well as a planned global program. This included analytical studies, expert exchanges, and capacity building measures in the context of the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative AFR100, innovative finance instruments, and Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) actions.
