Technical Due Diligence of a Teak Plantation
Background
The client develops and advises on sustainable forestry investments in Latin America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa. Unique was contracted to carry out due diligence on a teak plantation in Guatemala and to assist in assessing inventory data and production forecasts. The objectives of the project were to 1) provide a qualitative description of the area of interest in Guatemala, 2) conduct a cartographic review and update of the inventory data, 3) review the inventory design and methodology, including ground truthing and updating the data and assessing the quality of the inventory, and 4) analyze the company's production data and project future timber flows to validate the company's data.
