Transparent Monitoring
Background
The Paris Agreement requests each country to outline and communicate their post-2020 climate actions, known as their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The quality underlying countries' NDC's is often unclear and has been identified as a bottleneck to track climate action. The Transparent Monitoring Project funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) aims to fill this gap by enhancing transparency and ultimately quality of data used in greenhouse gas monitoring in the land use sector. The Transparent Monitoring approach is being piloted in four countries: Papua-New Guinea, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire and Peru. Côte d'Ivoire is the focus country for UNIQUE.
