Assessment of Forest Road Damages
Background
In north-eastern Rhineland-Palatinate, existing 220-kV power lines were converted to 380-kv power lines. During this re-construction phase forest roads belonging to private forest owners had to be used. According to the law, damages to nature and the landscape have to be compensated through appropriate nature conservation measures. Amprion, a German electricity grid operator, requested UNIQUE to assess the condition of forest roads before and after construction vehicle use so as to ensure that necessary compensations could be made for damaged forest roads.
