Bonn Challenge and Forest Landscape Restoration
Background
Globally up to two billion hectares of forest land is currently lost or degraded. Different international policy processes call for large-scale forest landscape restoration (FLR) and numersou countries have made significant voluntary FLR pledges. The BfN supports Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety regarding the environmental coherence and consistency of dicussed solutions and approaches. UNIQUE was mandated to identify and analyze relelvant guidance from these processes, as well as derive recommendations for how environmental risks can be mitigated. UNIQUE was selected for this assignemnt due to its expertise in FLR , which includes experience in FLR policy processes as well as FLR implementation in different contexts.
