Collection of Experiences and Practices in Livestock MRV
Background
Livestock greenhouse gas emissions constitute an increasing share of agricultural emissions, especially in developing countries. 92 developing countries have included livestock-related emission sources in their Nationally Determined Contribution. Most developing countries use a Tier 1 approach in their national greenhouse gas inventory which does not capture changes in livestock productivity. This project aims to provide developing countries that wish to use advanced (Tier 2) inventory methods with practical, internationally accepted options for livestock inventory compilation. UNIQUE was contracted to compile a collection of case studies on Tier 2 approaches in national greenhouse gas inventories to be made accessible through an interactive web portal and a publication.
