Ecological Services of the Municipal Forest of Murg
Background
The municipality of Murg has nearly 100 hectares of forest. According to the current forest management plan, the forests should be ecologically upgraded. These upgrades can be quantified to compensate potential ecological deterioration due to later construction planning. The evaluation of such compensatory measures is based on the German Federal Building Code (Baugesetzbuch). UNIQUE was commissioned to quantify the upgrade measures and evaluate the possibility of attributing them to a so-called eco-account.
Our contribution

- Evaluation of habitat types to determine the compensation requirement.
- Eco-point evaluation for each forest management unit.
- Numerical eco-point evaluation or hectare values according to planning modules.
- Economic impact of the measures.
- Presentation of the results to the local council.
