Feasibility Study: Supply of 10 MW Biomass Power Plant
Background
The Cooperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) and the Cooperbelt Forestry Company (CFC) intend to set up a 10 MW biomass power plant in Zambia to make use of the wood waste generated from the operations of CFC. The aim of the project is to provide power to the CFC facilities and feed the energy surplus into the CEC operated Copperbelt network. The waste heat will be used in the CFC kilns and can also be used to support other nearby heat demanding industries. UNIQUE, in cooperation with Munich Advisor Group, was responsible for the preparation of a feasibility study. The potential and costs of the project and the measures necessary for the fulfillment of environmental and social standards were estimated.
Our contribution
- Collect and analyze data with respect to the proposed biomass power plant.
- Provide sufficient information to enable CEC and CFC to raise the required project financing.
- Conduct a feasibility study.
- Evaluation of the environmental and social compatibility.
