Improvement of the Wood Supply in the Eifel
Background
The Eifel is characterized by small-scale forest ownership and spruce dominated forests. Often, the forest management is completely abandoned or clear cutting occurs. Forest cooperatives together with voluntary members can cope with the situation as they take over forest management. The main regional organization offering membership and support in the management of private forests is the silvicultural cooperative Bitburg. Active members of existing cooperatives were each responsible for informing village smallholders and supporting bundling activities. UNIQUE conducted workshops for this group to define their future role in order to improve the management of small-scale forest ownership.
Our contribution
- Conducting workshops on the future role of active voluntary members.
