Methodology for the Calculation of Forestry-CO2 Savings
Background
In order to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Summit 2015 (COP 21), the forestry sector plays a decisive role alongside the energy sector. As part of its development cooperation, KfW supports forestry projects in the field of protected areas and biodiversity. Against the background of increasing requirements for a uniform calculation and reporting of CO2 saving effects, a short expert opinion was prepared. In this report, specific methods were proposed for use by KfW to calculate CO2 reduction effects for projects in the forestry sector. UNIQUE prepared the short report based on existing CO2 credit methods and tools, and tested various types of projects.
