Sample inventory in Protected Forests
Background
The Forest Nature Conservation and Forest Growth Departments of the Forest Research Centre in Freiburg are responsible for the observation, monitoring, and scientific supervision of the protected forest areas in Baden-Württemberg. A particular focus is on protected forests, for which sample inventories are carried out at regular intervals. Unique was commissioned to map parts of a protected forest in the southwestern foothills of the Alps. This was a repeated inventory with 53 sampling points.
Our contribution
- Locating the sampling points
- Measuring and checking all trees with azimuth, distance, and inclination
- Marking of the measured trees
- Description of all ecological and silvicultural characteristics
- Height measurement of representative trees
- Recording of regeneration, browsing, and deadwood
- Data entry and quality management of the data
